Donation Services

Good Items Go to People Who Need Them —
and You Get the Receipt and Potential Tax Deduction

When Jay cleans out a home, he evaluates everything in the property. Items with meaningful resale value he purchases directly through his buy-out program. But not every usable item clears that bar — and those items deserve a better outcome than a landfill.

Items that are still in good condition but not worth Jay's time to resell get donated to charitable organizations on your behalf. Jay transports them, obtains an official donation receipt, and returns that receipt to you. It costs you nothing extra and ensures that what still has value goes somewhere it can do some good and may even result in a valuable tax deduction.

Owner-Directed Donations

You are always in control of what gets donated. If there are specific items — furniture a family member treasured, clothing from a parent's closet, anything with personal or sentimental significance — that you want donated to a specific organization rather than sold, Jay will honor that. Simply tell him before the job begins and he will set those items aside, deliver them to the organization of your choice, and return the receipt to you.

This is particularly meaningful in estate situations where family members feel strongly about where certain belongings end up. Jay understands and respects that.

Where Jay Donates

Jay works with several well-established charitable organizations that accept a wide range of household items and provide official donation receipts:

How It Works

Donation services are offered as part of any cleanout job — not as a standalone pickup service. During the cleanout Jay identifies items suitable for donation, sets them aside, and delivers them after the job is complete. He then obtains the receipt and returns it to you — in person, by text, by email, or by mail, whichever is most convenient for your situation.

There is no extra charge for this service. It is simply part of how Jay approaches every job.

How Donations Relate to the Buy-Out Program

Jay's buy-out program and donation services work together as part of the same philosophy — nothing with value gets wasted. Items Jay can sell go through the buy-out program, reducing your cleanout cost. Items that are usable but below the threshold for resale get donated. What remains after both — items too worn or damaged to sell or donate — gets disposed of responsibly through recycling or proper disposal.

The result is a cleanout where as little as possible ends up in a landfill, and as much as possible either saves you money or goes to someone who needs it.

A Note on Donation Receipts and Tax Deductibility

Jay obtains an official receipt from the charitable organization documenting the donation. Whether that donation is tax deductible — and to what extent — depends on your individual tax situation. Jay recommends sharing the receipt with your accountant or tax advisor. Jay is a cleanout professional, not a tax professional, and does not provide tax advice.
